A conversation with my seventh graders yesterday as we're lining up for lunch (as all the boys are butting in line in front of all the girls):
me: So, class, do you know what the word chivalry means?
male student one: I think I've heard that word before...
male student two: Isn't that some kind of bush?
the rest: blank stares
Chivalry is dead?

oh goodness really?? thank goodness they have a great teacher to teach them what chivalry is and why it is important!
