So, as I said in my last post, I am throwing a baby shower for my sister.
Yes, it is baby number two.
And Yes, I know that according to Martha's etiquette you're supposed to throw a shower for the first baby and sometimes for baby number two- if it is the opposite sex from the first.
But you know what folks?
It's baby number two, its another boy,
and I just want to throw a party for my seestah.
At least I plan on doing it in style.
(I think that's something even Martha wouldn't mind).
I have lots of ideas, but let me share with you the invitations. Now, I know that some people swear by buying their invitations (Erin is the queen of getting ridiculously cheap but cute invitations made), but I am a crafter at heart and really, really, really enjoy making them from scratch. Here's what I came up with for the invites.
Theme: Diapers and Desserts
Colors: light green, light blue, orange and a bit of yellow
Here's how you can make your own diy invitations
(great for baby showers, bridal showers, parties, even weddings if you're up for it)
Get your ingredients:
I use:
cardstock (for the background paper)
scrapbook paper
white paper (to be printed on)
card evelopes
paper cutter
paper punch (optional)
and either brackets or an adhesive
buttons!
1). Measure you cardstock to be able to fit inside your envelope. Mine was 4 in x 6 in.
2). Cut the scrapbook paper half an inch smaller than the cardstock. Mine was 3.5 in x 5.5 in.
3). Glue/Stick cardstock and scrapbook paper together. I use photo splits (you can find at any craft store, even Wal-Mart).
4). Print your invitation piece. There are lots of great ideas online, I happened to come up with mine on my own (although I'm sure it's been done). Feel free to take it! Also, a great site for finding fun fonts is here. (I used this, thanks to my friend Amanda S). My specific font is available here.
5). (Optional) Punch your invitation paper. I happened to come across a great paper punch at Michaels on sale, so I used that to make the wave cut look on the white paper (see below).
6). Glue/Stick/Bracket white invitation paper on.
7). Hot glue a button on top.
8). Address and mail.
